What is an Enneagram Matrix Test?

The Enneagram Matrix Test (EMT) is a comprehensive assessment designed to provide a holistic understanding of your personality by evaluating your core Enneagram type, wing types and TriCenter (your "instinctual stack" is tested separately). Unlike traditional Enneagram tests that focus solely on identifying your core type, the EMT delves deeper by exploring the nuances of your Enneagram profile, referred to as the 'Enneagram Matrix'. With about 150 meticulously crafted questions, the Enneagram Matrix test takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and offers A/B answer choices, ensuring a thorough and engaging assessment experience.

How to Get Started with the Free Enneagram Matrix Test: 3 Simple Steps 

Begin your journey by taking the Enneagram Matrix Test. The test is accessible online and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. With around 150 questions featuring A/B answer choices, the test is designed to be engaging and introspective, guiding you to reflect on various aspects of your personality.  

Enneagram Matrix Test Step 2: Receive Your Results

Upon completing the test, you will receive your Enneagram Matrix test results via email. These results will include three key elements: your core Enneagram type, your Enneagram wing, and your TriCenter combination. Sometimes, Enneagram test results can be INCONCLUSIVE, such as when two types, two wings, or two types within the same Tri-Center receive an equal number of points. This is not uncommon. When it happens, we advise taking each of the three tests separately on this website. Alternatively, an Enneagram coach can provide additional clarity.

If your Enneagram test is CONCLUSIVE, you can obtain detailed answers based on your Enneagram Matrix code. As this step is not automated, you will need to manually construct your Enneagram Matrix code. Here’s how:

• Structure: The Enneagram Matrix code is composed of three parts, with each part separated by an asterisk ("*"), like so: 3w4*3-7-8*sp-so-sx
• First Portion: This indicates your core Enneagram type combined with your wing. For example, if your test results indicate you are a Type 3 with a wing 4, it would be expressed as 3w4.
• Second Portion: This represents your Enneagram Tri-Center. For instance, a Tri-Center configuration of 3-7-8 means Type 3 is predominant in your heart center (emotions), Type 7 in your head center (cognitive functions), and Type 8 in your gut center (instincts).
• Third portion: This represents your "instinctual stack". For example, if your test results indicate your  instinctual type is predominantly "preserving" (sp), followed by "social" and "transmitting", your "social stack would be indicated as sp-so-sx.

Thus, the complete Enneagram Matrix code in this example would be 3w4*3-7-8*sp-so-sx, indicating a core Type 3 with a wing 4, a TriCenter configuration of 3,  7, and 8 and an instinctual stack of sp (preserving), so (social) and sx ("transmitting", also referred to as "sexual").
